Kurbo Coach Job Overview

Kurbo Inc. is a mobile and online weight management program designed specifically for kids, teens, and families. This fun and engaging evidenced-based program is designed to empower children and families to make healthy choices and manage their weight.

A Kurbo Coach must be an energetic, passionate individual who enjoys working with children, teens, and adults to make lasting change in their lives. Kurbo Coaches and their positive relationships with their clients play a critical role in their success.

About the Opportunity:

You will be working directly with kids and teens to provide on-going feedback, support, and motivation related to health and wellness. You will monitor each child’s progress, help families overcome obstacles and challenges they encounter, and provide an uplifting and positive experience for all. You will be trained in Kurbo’s behavior modification curriculum.  A background check and training are required for all coaches.

Coach Expectations:

  • Provide a positive and uplifting experience
  • Monitor client progress through weekly check-ins via video chat
  • Assist clients in overcoming obstacles and challenges impacting behavior change
  • Provide education and support on healthy eating and exercise
  • Maintain a strong knowledge base of the Kurbo program principles and strategies
  • Demonstrate an ability to work well independently
  • Participate in trainings as required


  • Experience working with children.
  • Flexible schedule with availability in the afternoon and evenings.
  • Certified life and/or health coach from accredited program or institution (ICF accreditation preferred) or relevant education/experience. For example: group facilitator, success working with children as a teacher, tutor, coach or counselor, work experience in health, physiology, education, psychology, social work, or similar field
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher)
  • A computer connected to the Internet running Windows 8 or above and a smart device (ex. iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone running iOS7 or an Android smartphone.)
  • Access to a smartphone or device including Android, iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone
  • A background check is required of all Kurbo Coaches

The Marketing and Digital Media Intern will ideally have a strong writing background and enthusiasm for marketing and communications. We are looking for someone who will bring creative energy to the team and is excited to work and learn at a fast-paced startup company. This internship is for Summer, 2019. The Intern will work between 15 – 20 hours per week at Kurbo Headquarters in San Francisco, CA.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Write, design and prepare Kurbo collateral and marketing materials (print, digital, video)
  • Write, edit and post blog posts and marketing emails
  • Design, plan and manage partner promotions
  • Provide customer support via phone
  • Manage social media
  • Support Kurbo events
  • Analyze digital marketing campaigns and report findings

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of undergraduate study, major in communications, marketing, or related field preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Initiative and capacity for innovative online and print collateral
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch or others)
  • General understanding of branding principles
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality, accurate content

Other Desirable Qualifications/Skills

  • Customer service experience
  • Willingness to try new things
  • Passion for helping children and teens
